About Malta
The Maltese Islands, rich in history and culture, are located in the heart of the Mediterranean, where Malta, the largest of the islands, has long attracted foreign investment. In 2004, Malta became a member of the European Union after becoming an independent republic in 1964 (formerly ruled by the British Empire, Malta is also now a member of the Commonwealth). Malta is a bi-lingual country, with almost the whole population being able to speak both English and Maltese fluently; other languages that are relatively popular in Malta include Italian, French and German. http://internationalliving.com/2011/01/07-ils-2011-quality-of-life-index-reveals-best-climate-in-the-world/ |
